a week of outings...

This week has been quite busy. So let's get started...

On Wednesday night, I had the pleasure of going out to Elmo in Chelsea with Jacob and Amo. We all got wonderful cocktails. I ordered the pear bellini, which turned out to be my favorite, and we ordered the chicken satay and calamari for appetizers, both of which were good. I recommend the chicken satay over the calamari (not the best I've ever had but good). If you are in Chelsea, definitely check at Elmo.

After Elmo, we ventured to the always reliable Blockheads in Hell's Kitchen for some $3 margaritas to meet Laura, Nick and friends. I ordered my grande margarita and the nachos with black beans. The nachos were surprisingly delicious and simple... just some cheese and beans. Who knew the combo would be so delicious. On Thursday night, David Dean invited me to a piano recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall. Minsoo Sohn was playing, who recently won this big Canadian contest. He played 33 Variations in the first act, which was impressive... so much memorization. My favorite in the second act was the Liszt transcription of Mozart's Don Giovanni entitled Réminiscences de Don Juan (S/G418). I love classical music concerts...they're (obviously) so different from attending theatre. Classical concerts are very refreshing to me.
That is all for now. Till next week...

autumn in new york...

Okay. So I actually have a plan for this blog. Every weekend, I'm going to write on this thing about restaurants I checked out this week, shops I've visited, recipes I've tried, theatre/opera/movies I've attended, and other such recommendations. I hope this plan becomes interesting. Let's see...

So it's beginning to feel like Fall! Everyone is digging their coats and scarves out of the bottom of their closets or just buying new. I did find my new black coat I want for this Fall season. It's from J. Crew and really cute.

Actually J. Crew has some cute stuff this season. Go check it out. I'm now on the hunt for the perfect brown boots. I want some sort of heel and they have to go more than half way up my calf. Any suggestions?

I saw The Toxic Avenger recently. What a fun show! I laughed so hard and was thoroughly entertained. I saw Nancy Opel's understudy, Erin Leigh Peck. She did a good job, but I hear I must see Ms. Opel. Demond Green particularly stood out as the "Black Dude." I thought his performance was flawless. You should check out his music MySpace here. He has some pretty cool stuff. I like "You're On TV." The band (led by Doug Katsaros) was amazing. They were placed on the set, and it was fun to watch them jam out. But anyway, you should go get tickets for this show and support new musical theatre! It's worth it! Yay! Now I have to watch the original Toxic Avenger. Thank you Netflix.

I had a great experience on Tuesday night with Caroline, Jacob and Adam at Pierre Loti Wine Bar on Irving Place in Gramercy. We ordered an Italian Chianti, which was okay, but my favorite was this Spanish white wine we ordered. I can't remember the names, but that white wine was excellent. We also ordered an amazing cheese flight (they don't give you too much cheese though). The ambiance is really chill and sophisticated. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Gramercy. So that's all I have right now. Have a wonderful week! And don't forget to buy a pumpkin!
