autumn is just around the bend

After a summer of trees, puppets, full belting and wine... a lot of wine, I'm back in the city and once again resolute to revive this blog.  And now, with the official start to Autumn less than a week away, I'm excited to be posting again.  I walk down the street and see signs involving pumpkin-flavored everything for sale and that makes me beyond happy.  Speaking of pumpkin-flavored, I'm shocked to find how gratifying Dunkin' Donuts pumpkin-flavored iced coffee is... you should give it a try.  I dare you.  Hey, if you don't like it, you only wasted a few bucks and hardly any calories if you order it with skim and Splenda.

On a completely different note, I am obsessed with Sara Bareilles' new album, Kaleidoscope Heart.  If you haven't bought, do so, now!  I think it might be even better than her first.  I especially love the transition from the first to the second track; you'll get that comment once you listen to it... which hopefully you're doing so as you read this.

And as it's fall, I must rave about these booties at Anthropologie (where I happen to work).   I think my fall uniform is going to be the skirt, blouse, tights, scarf and bootie look.  Duh.

And with that, it's time for this lady to finish her glass of Malbec and head to bed. Until next time, enjoy the last of the warm weather.

how to survive the snow

1. Go to Dean & Deluca and order the biggest Chai Latte (make sure you're wearing your snow boots while doing this... no fun ruining your heels).

2. When safely home, turn on The Decemberists (I'm currently listening to their Castaways & Cutouts album).

3. Quickly remove all snow gear and get into Lucky Brand Big Sweatpants. These are my favorite leisure pants I have ever found.

4. Curl up with your favorite book. I've been re-reading Harry Potter... again. And it's still amazing.

5. Your snow survival is complete.
Warm Drink + Good Music + Comfy Clothes + Good Book = Perfect Snow Day.
Oh yea, open your blinds so you can watch the snowflakes fall past your window.

lovely ladies

I woke up this morning with a funny taste in my head.
Spackled some butter over my whole grain bread.
Something tastes different, maybe it's my tongue.
Something tastes different, suddenly I'm not so young.

From top to bottom: Lyrics from Ingrid Michaelson's "Die Alone," Ingrid Michaelson, Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Missy Higgins (LOVE her song "Where I Stood"), Yael Naïm (Obsessed with her self-titled debut album), Regina Spektor, Saoirse Ronan (Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, heart-breaking and beautiful), Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester (Glee)

vino e formaggio

I had the most beautiful wine and cheese combo at Bocca di Bacco (pictured below) on 9th Ave. between 54th and 55th St.

Wine: Musso Barbera d'Alba 2006, Very dry and fruity
Cheeses (from top to bottom): Taleggio (Northern Italy, semi-soft, mild with fruity tang), Pecorino Romano (Italy, hard, salty), Robiola (my favorite!, Italy, soft-ripened, sweet-tastes almost like butter)

If you're in an Italian mood, head on over to Bocca di Bacco or create your own Italian wine and cheese night at home. Everything is sold at Whole Foods... the new one on the Upper West Side is incredible.
